About the Area
All roads lead to Nambour, whether you're heading an hour south to the capital Brisbane, 20 minutes east to the beautiful Sunshine Coast beaches, on a picnic west to the scenic Blackall Range or travelling north to the rest of Queensland.
Conveniently tucked in the peaceful hinterland between the range and the coast, Nambour is the historic capital of the Sunshine Coast, and remains home to the region's major health facility and the Maroochy Shire Council headquarters.
With its revitalized shopping heart, arthouse cinema and the shire's only major stage and entertainment facility, it serves as the district centre for the hinterland towns of Palmwoods, Woombye, Yandina, Mapleton and Montville.
The bus/rail interchange also places it is the central transport link between the coastal resorts and the rest of Queensland.
While being a key centre, Nambour retains the relaxed ambience of a country town, with Petrie Creek flowing through its heart and providing a perfect setting for parks and playgrounds.
Despite its growth and evolution from being the sugar town, Nambour still lives up to its old name, 'the friendly town'.
